Activities organized in support of former senior Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders facing trial in The Hague are moving to the Netherlands ahead of the expected verdict in the case.
The “Liria ka Emër” platform announced that, beginning Tuesday, September 15, activities calling for justice for the four former KLA leaders will continue in The Hague.
At a press conference, platform representative Eliza Hoxha said the organization would hold an event titled “Nata e Pritjes” (“Night of Waiting”) together with members of the Albanian diaspora.
Hoxha also thanked citizens across Kosovo for their large participation in the “March for Freedom,” held in Prishtina on September 12. She described the march as a dignified and significant demonstration.
She also expressed gratitude to Kosovo’s wartime organizations and KLA veterans for participating in joint activities across the seven Operational Zones under the banner “Fires of Freedom.”
The verdict in the case against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi is scheduled to be delivered on September 16 by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
The four defendants were arrested in November 2020 and have remained in detention since then. Prosecutors have sought prison sentences of 45 years for each of the four accused.
The defendants have denied the charges against them.
The case concerns allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during and after the 1998–1999 Kosovo war.
