Gaza’s government media office has reported an alarming humanitarian crisis, stating that more than 100,000 children, including 40,000 infants under one year old, are at risk of death due to a complete lack of baby formula and food supplements.

Accusations of Starvation as a Weapon

The office described the situation as a “slow-motion massacre” caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade. It accused Israel of “intentionally killing the youngest population of Gaza through starvation by closing all border crossings.” In extreme cases, mothers have been forced to dilute their baby’s food with water for days.

Hospitals and health centers are seeing a surge in cases of acute malnutrition. The lack of medical aid and food has resulted in 122 deaths so far, including 83 children, and the medical system in Gaza is said to be nearing collapse.

The media office has appealed to the international community for urgent intervention to prevent what it calls an “intentional campaign of extermination against the children of Gaza.” It accused Israel and its allies of a “clear collaboration in the genocide of Gaza’s children.”

Since October 2023, Israel has been accused of killing more than 59,700 Palestinians, a majority of whom are women and children. The ongoing conflict has completely destroyed Gaza’s healthcare system and led to a profound food crisis.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
