Thousands of protesters gathered in the streets of Tel Aviv today, demanding an end to the war in Gaza, just one day after the Israeli government announced its decision to take control of Gaza City.

The demonstrators carried placards and photos of hostages still held in the Palestinian territory, urging the government to secure their release.

The Israeli Security Cabinet has approved a controversial plan to seize control of Gaza City in a move aimed at expanding the ongoing military offensive. The decision has drawn sharp criticism both domestically and internationally.

When asked two days ago during an interview on Fox News whether Israel intended to take over the entire Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded: “We intend to do so.”

The development comes amid heightened tensions and growing calls from international actors for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations.
