A large-scale fire broke out yesterday in the area of the village”Kçiq i Vogël”, of Mitrovica, causing significant material damage and posing a serious threat to local residents.
According to initial reports, thousands of hectares of land have been consumed by flames, which spread rapidly and advanced dangerously close to residential homes. Four old, uninhabited houses were completely destroyed, but fortunately, no human casualties have been reported.
The intensity of the blaze has caused considerable concern among villagers, while firefighters battled for hours to bring the situation under control. Due to the scale of the fire, KFOR was called in to assist with aerial firefighting operations.
NATO forces in Kosovo began air suppression efforts this morning, aiming to halt the further spread of the flames and safeguard the lives and property of residents.
