During the opening of the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature, and Culture at the amphitheater of the Central University Library, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti described the event as a long-standing cornerstone of Kosovo’s cultural life. He emphasized that in the context of the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), language represents the most solid foundation for preserving human intelligence and imagination.
Speaking about the relationship between language and thought, Kurti highlighted that their inseparable intimacy remains a fundamental human issue, deeply tied to cultural formation. He noted that culture itself is both persistent and eternal, and that linguists have a responsibility to explore it across all their sub-disciplines.
“The 43rd edition of this seminar plays a crucial role in understanding the foundation that serves thought and even shapes it. As we know, the relationship between thought and language simultaneously enables and constrains it. Linguistic study focuses on calculating the rationality of genuine thought. Language is not only the communication of needs, but also the expression of subjectivity, memory, imagination, and culture,” Kurti stated.
He further stressed that in today’s AI-driven era, language remains the strongest pillar for preserving human intelligence and imagination.
Kurti also underscored the need to increase enthusiasm for the Albanian language in culture, art, and science. In his capacity as acting Prime Minister, he expressed the government’s readiness to support national institutions connected to this noble and historic mission.
Additionally, he highlighted support for students of Albanian Language and Literature through scholarships of €1,000 and backing for academic staff involved in the field.
