French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that he wants the leaders of Ukraine and Russia to hold talks in a “neutral venue” such as Switzerland.
Macron stressed that European leaders should also be present at the table as part of any summit between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an interview with French broadcaster LCI, Macron confirmed that work begins today on drafting a security guarantees proposal for Ukraine.
“We will convene the coalition of the willing together with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to keep them informed,” Macron said. “At the same time, we will begin concrete work with the Americans to determine who is ready to take on which responsibilities.”
He added: “Ukraine will make the concessions it considers fair and appropriate. This peace cannot be a capitulation, because that would be tragic for Ukraine and for Europeans.”
