Abelard Tahiri, a deputy from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), criticized Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (VV) for nominating candidates for Kosovo’s Parliamentary Speaker whom he claims have a “record against the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).” While Tahiri did not explicitly name the next candidate, he indicated that the choice is already known.
Allegations Against VV Candidates
- Albulena Haxhiu: Tahiri criticized her for supporting a law that extended investigations into war crimes until December 31, 2000, arguing that this could allow UÇK veterans to be investigated, aligning with Serbian interests.
- Donika Gërvalla: Tahiri claimed she conducted personal investigations and allegedly created dossiers on UÇK leaders to be submitted to the Special Court, a claim Gërvalla denies, stating she has had no contact with the Hague Court or any witness testimony.
- Hekuran Murati: According to Tahiri, Murati excluded key groups from minimum wage benefits, including UÇK veterans, families of martyrs, and UÇK-disabled persons.
Tahiri concluded that it is evident who the next candidate will be, though he did not specify a name.
Upcoming Parliamentary Session
The Kuvend (Parliament) session is set to continue tomorrow at 11:00. Albin Kurti, leader of VV, was asked about the next nominee for parliamentary speaker after Hekuran Murati’s nomination failed, responding with a smile: “You’ll find out on Sunday.”
Note: According to the Constitutional Court ruling, a candidate’s name can only be submitted for a vote three times.
