The Chair of the Governmental Commission for Missing Persons, Andin Hoti, stated on the International Day of the Missing Persons in Kosovo that they are in Geneva, Switzerland, where they are raising their voices before the United Nations, seeking justice and the truth for thousands of families whose loved ones remain missing.

Hoti emphasized that they are seeking support from the European Union, the United Nations, and all justice institutions to impose on Serbia the obligation to hand over the archives, so that families of the missing are no longer kept in limbo as they continue searching for their loved ones.

“1,584 of our family members are still missing. Our hopes do not fade, do not vanish, and will never die. Given the current developments in Brussels and Kosovo, the current Serbian regime is strongly against cooperation in providing information or the archives we are requesting,” he said.

He added that in every meeting—whether with the Serbian side or in Brussels—they continue to insist that the international community must intervene to impose, not merely request, Serbia to open the archives.

Furthermore, he mentioned that in September, they expect to travel to Kozhle in Serbia, a location that Serbia has committed to allowing the Governmental Commission for Missing Persons to access.

“We have not received a definitive ‘no,’ and in September we expect to go to Kozhle, which I have mentioned several times as one of the locations Serbia has pledged to allow us access to.”

“It is very challenging to return to Batajnica, which we are trying to do due to our suspicions that remains of missing persons are still there. I am confident that with continuous pressure, both from us and the international community, this will also be achieved,” Hoti concluded.
