More than 1,000 German military vehicles have arrived in Lithuania to take part in a large-scale NATO exercise on the alliance’s eastern flank.

Two cargo ships transported combat vehicles, armored carriers, military trucks, equipment, and personnel from the German port of Rostock across the Baltic Sea to Lithuania, an EU and NATO member state.

Upon arrival at the port of Klaipėda, the convoy of the 37th Armored Infantry Brigade headed toward Pabradė and other Lithuanian military bases.

In Lithuania, troops and vehicles will join the “Quadriga 2025” exercise, which focuses on defending the Baltic region in times of crisis and war.

The Bundeswehr plans to make Lithuania one of its main military hubs in the coming years. In response to Europe’s security challenges and Russia’s aggressive behavior, Germany is gradually establishing the 45th Armored Brigade, nicknamed “Lithuania”, which is expected to be fully operational by 2027 with 5,000 soldiers.

Lithuania borders both Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave and Belarus, making it a strategic hotspot for NATO and European security.
