Israeli airstrikes targeted eastern Lebanon on September 8, hitting positions belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, according to state media reports.

Hezbollah is designated a terrorist organization by the United States, while the European Union lists only its military wing, not the political party.

The Lebanese state news agency reported that seven airstrikes struck the Hermel region in eastern Lebanon.

The Israeli military stated that it targeted several Hezbollah facilities in the Bekaa Valley, including what it described as elite training camps for the group’s Radwan forces.

“Hezbollah’s activities and weapons depots represent a flagrant violation of last November’s agreement, which aimed to end over a year of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel,” the Israeli army said.

Despite the agreement, Israel has continued airstrikes in Lebanon.

The latest attacks follow a statement from the Lebanese government last week, announcing that the army would begin implementing a plan to disarm Hezbollah, without providing further details. Hezbollah has publicly rejected the disarmament plan.
