The Government Commission on Missing Persons has announced that today field inspections will take place in the village of Kozhle near Novi Pazar, due to suspicions of the existence of a mass grave.
According to the Commission’s statement, this action comes as a result of ongoing requests made during delegation meetings and the dialogue process for clarifying the fate of those who went missing during the Kosovo war.
“We emphasize that this case was planned to be addressed last year as well, but after several days of site preparation, excavations were interrupted. The Kozhle site is one of the repeatedly raised locations during official meetings, along with continuous requests for a return with priority to Batajnica and other already marked sites,” the statement said.
The Commission stressed that excavations must be accompanied by data from the relevant archives of Serbian institutions, in order to pinpoint the location of the mass grave and secure the necessary evidence for a full clarification of the case.
“On-site evaluations at this location will also be monitored by representatives of the Delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, specifically the Government Commission on Missing Persons and the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The pain of families who for more than two decades have waited for answers about the fate of their loved ones is an open wound in our society. Every step toward uncovering the truth is a step toward justice, toward long-awaited peace, and toward human dignity,” the statement further added.
