The acting President of Syria, Ahmad al-Sharaa, announced that negotiations with Israel for a security agreement are ongoing, with the aim of reaching a short-term arrangement that would either restore the 1974 disengagement agreement or establish a similar framework.

He emphasized that Israel has interpreted the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime as Syria’s withdrawal from that agreement, “even though Syria demonstrated its commitment to the deal from the very beginning.”

Meanwhile, Syria has requested that Israeli forces return to their previous positions, in line with the 1974 disengagement lines, Anadolu reports.
