In response to the complex global security situation, Croatia will allocate €120 million to strengthen its external and Schengen borders, the government announced today. Croatia is one of the 27 European Union member states.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic stated, “The international security situation is very complex. We are working to reinforce our external and Schengen borders, as well as our army and police. Recently, we decided to invest €120 million to enhance technical capabilities for green border control.”
Plenkovic emphasized that Croatia is closely monitoring global developments:
“We are following global developments with concern. Our policy has successfully reduced the number of illegal border crossings by 56.6% in 2025 compared to the same period last year.”
This investment aims to modernize border surveillance technologies, improve military and police readiness, and ensure national and EU-wide security.
