The Acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, reaffirmed his belief in the innocence of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), who are currently on trial in The Hague.

Murati expressed hope that the Special Court will deliver acquittals for former President Hashim Thaçi, former parliamentary speakers Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as former parliamentary group leader of Vetëvendosje, Rexhep Selimi, who face charges of war crimes.

He stressed that Vetëvendosje has consistently opposed the establishment of the Special Court, describing it as a mono-ethnic process targeting only one ethnic group.

“We hope, believe, and wish that the court will issue verdicts of innocence for those who are being tried there. We believe in the innocence of the KLA fighters,” Murati said.

When asked about the testimonies, including that of former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin, Murati declined to give further comments on the treatment of Thaçi and others by the Special Court.
