Former Kosovo Assembly deputy Xhavit Haliti, who served multiple terms, stated that the post-election parliamentary blockade reflects a weakness of all parliamentary groups and the leadership organs of their parties.
According to Haliti, failing to constitute the main governing body, which serves the citizens of Kosovo, is a political adventure that should not have happened.
He said this action is related to the challenge that Prime Minister Kurti wants to pose to political parties, as well as, in his view, the strategy of President Trump concerning the resolution of negotiations and the establishment of peace between Kosovo and Serbia.
“As is known, in November, a special envoy of the US President is planned to arrive in Kosovo and Serbia to negotiate the agreement, but Kurti, through the failure to form a coalition, wants to delay the start of negotiations. Therefore, in all likelihood, and in my opinion, there will be no government until the end of November, after which it is possible to move toward early elections,” Haliti told IndeksOnline.
He further said that the leaderships of opposition parties have accommodated themselves by remaining in opposition, content with occasional “bombshell” statements and the benefits of accumulated power.
“An opposition that does not fight with all democratic means for power is either being blackmailed by those in power or does not understand its duties,” added Haliti.
It is worth noting that the Constitutional Court has issued a temporary measure until September 30, when the ruling on the deputy from the Serbian community is expected to be published.
