The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a response following Hamas’s decision to accept U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza.
In a press statement, Israel declared its readiness to cooperate with the American leader in all stages of the ceasefire process.
“Israel is prepared for the immediate implementation of the first phase of Trump’s plan, which involves the prompt release of all hostages,” the statement said, emphasizing that Israel’s principles align with Trump’s vision.
“We will continue working in full coordination with the President and his team to end the war in accordance with Israel’s established principles, which are consistent with Trump’s vision for ending the conflict,” the statement added.
However, the declaration made no mention of Trump’s call for Israel to immediately halt airstrikes in Gaza — a demand the U.S. President described as essential to ensuring the safe and swift release of hostages.
Trump reacted on social media, calling this “a great day for the Middle East.”
“Based on Hamas’s statement, I believe they are ready for lasting peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombings in Gaza so that we can rescue the hostages safely and quickly! It’s too dangerous to do that right now. We are already in talks about the details that need to be finalized. This is not just about Gaza, but about achieving the long-sought peace in the Middle East,” Trump stated.
On Friday evening, Hamas released its official response to end the Gaza war — just hours after Trump issued an ultimatum giving them until Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Washington time to accept the peace plan, warning that failure to do so would bring “hell like the world has never seen.”
In its statement, Hamas said that after extensive consultations with its leadership, Palestinian factions, mediators, and “friendly states,” it had decided to respond positively to the plan’s key points.
The militants also expressed appreciation for the international community’s efforts, including President Trump’s initiative, aimed at ending the war, facilitating prisoner exchanges, ensuring the urgent entry of humanitarian aid, halting the occupation, and preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people.
