Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he held a second consecutive phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, describing the conversation as “very productive.”
The discussion focused on key issues, including:
- Defense support
- Long-range weapons, including Tomahawk missiles
- Ukraine’s energy needs
Zelenskyy asked Trump to play a mediating role in seeking peace in Ukraine, similar to efforts made in the Middle East. He emphasized that Russia is taking advantage of global attention on the Middle East conflict to intensify attacks against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russia continues its air offensive on Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure. Overnight, Russian forces launched 118 drones, causing seven deaths and at least 23 injuries in regions including Odesa, Donetsk, and Chernihiv. Damage was also reported in Kyiv’s energy network, with two employees of the energy company DTEK injured.
Zelenskyy warned that Russia aims to target the energy sector ahead of winter, calling it a form of aerial terrorism. Over the past week alone, Ukraine faced over 3,100 drones, 92 missiles, and around 1,360 bombs launched by Russia.
He also called for continued sanctions on Moscow, tariffs, and measures against countries purchasing Russian oil to prevent further escalation of Russian aggression.
