Ahead of a decisive meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the purchase of more powerful American missile systems, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine will help save lives.
In a post on X, Zelensky wrote that “every decision that strengthens Ukraine brings the war closer to an end”, emphasizing that Ukraine’s security can be guaranteed “if everything we agreed upon, including in Washington, is implemented.”
The Ukrainian leader revealed that Russia launched a swarm of drones overnight on his hometown, Kryvyi Rih, striking civilian infrastructure.
“There were dozens of other attack drones in our skies. Missiles were also spotted. Russia is trying to turn this part of Europe into an island of danger and suffering for human life. It is essential not to let this happen,” Zelensky posted.
He further stated that “Moscow’s true readiness for peace lies not in words, but in the immediate cessation of attacks and killings.”
Earlier, Zelensky confirmed he had met with representatives of U.S. defense companies to discuss “additional supplies of air defense systems” for Ukraine.
