U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that the Washington-brokered ceasefire in Gaza could pave the way for broader alliances between Israel and countries across the Middle East.
“I believe this Gaza deal is a critical part of unlocking the Abraham Accords,” said Vance during a press conference in Jerusalem, referring to the agreements signed on September 17, 2020, between Israel and several Arab states—primarily the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain—under U.S. mediation.
The Vice President highlighted that this new diplomatic progress could revive and expand the normalization framework initiated in 2020 between Israel and the Arab world.
“What this can allow,” Vance added, “is an alliance structure in the Middle East that endures—one that enables the good people of this region and the world to step forward and take ownership of their neighborhood.”
