The Court of Appeals has rejected Gjon Shkambi’s request for a reduced custody measure, deciding that he will remain in prison.

Shkambi was arrested as an accomplice of his nephew, Elvis Shkambi, who murdered Judge Astrit Kalaja.

Banush Koxhaj, the security guard at the Court of Appeals on the day of the crime, will also remain in custody, according to reports.

Judge Kalaja was killed on October 6 inside the courtroom by 30-year-old Elvis Shkambi following a ruling in a property dispute involving the perpetrator’s family. During the attack, Shkambi also shot Rakip and Elvis Kurtaj, father and son, who were parties to the case.
