U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) during his recent visit to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but declined to provide details about the reason for the procedure.

This marks the first time the 79-year-old politician has offered an explanation regarding his second medical check-up this year. His October 10 visit, described by the White House as a “routine annual check-up,” raised questions about his health, as it came just six months after a comprehensive medical examination, according to Reuters.

“I did it, got an MRI, it was perfect,” Trump told reporters while traveling to Tokyo. However, he did not disclose the reason for the scan, telling journalists to “ask the doctors.”

The White House has not responded to requests for further details on why Trump underwent a second MRI, which is unusual compared to traditional annual presidential medical exams.

Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, issued a statement after the visit:

“Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.”

The medical evaluation was said to have helped prepare for Trump’s international trips and included advanced scans, laboratory tests, and preventive health assessments.

MRI uses magnets and radio waves to produce detailed images inside the body and can detect a wide range of disorders and diseases.

Earlier, in July, the White House had reported swelling in Trump’s lower legs and bruising on his right hand, visible in photographs showing his ankles swollen and makeup applied to cover bruises on his hand.
