The acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, participated in the Joint Forum of the European Union and Interior Ministers of the Western Balkans, organized by the Danish Presidency of the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sveçla stated that the discussions at the Sarajevo-based forum focused on security challenges arising from technological development, with particular emphasis on drug trafficking, violent extremism, and terrorism.

“During the two sessions of the Forum, we discussed the security challenges brought by technological progress—especially in the areas of narcotics, violent extremism, and terrorism—as well as issues related to migration, asylum, border management, and visa policy alignment,” Sveçla said.

He added that he presented Kosovo’s ongoing efforts in these areas and highlighted the difficulties in regional cooperation, particularly regarding bringing perpetrators of terrorism to justice.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Sveçla announced the signing of a joint plan for the prevention and combat of terrorism and violent extremism in the Western Balkans, marking a step toward greater regional and European coordination in security matters.
