The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has expressed his condolences following the passing of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano.
Begaj praised Nano’s important role during Albania’s political transition and highlighted his reformist and liberal policies.
“With deep sorrow, I learned of the passing of Fatos Nano, the socialist leader and key figure of Albania’s transition in the 1990s and 2000s. Fatos Nano will be remembered as a liberal and reformist leader. My condolences go to his family, as well as to his many friends and admirers. Unforgettable!” wrote the President in his message of condolence.
