Sean “Diddy” Combs was transferred on Thursday to Fort Dix, a federal low-security prison in New Jersey, to begin serving the remainder of his sentence on charges related to prostitution, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Combs, who was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for participation in prostitution, requested to serve his 50-month sentence (just over four years) at Fort Dix in order to take advantage of the prison’s drug treatment program and to be closer to his family, CNN reported via Sinjali.

The music mogul is expected to serve roughly two and a half years in the federal facility. Until now, he had been held in federal pretrial detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, since his arrest in September 2024 and throughout his federal criminal trial earlier this year. Those 13 months will be credited toward the remainder of his sentence, in addition to any credit he may earn through participation in the drug treatment program. According to the Bureau of Prisons, his scheduled release date is May 8, 2028.

Combs’ legal team is appealing both the conviction and the sentence, and this week requested that a federal appeals court set an expedited schedule. President Donald Trump previously confirmed that Combs has sought a pardon, though no decision has yet been made.

Fort Dix has previously housed other high-profile inmates, including Joe Giudice, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
