Security expert Avni Arifi has condemned the reported incursion of Serbian gendarmerie units into Kosovo, during which a Kosovo citizen of Serbian nationality was reportedly wounded and abducted.
Arifi stated:
“As for Serbia’s actions, this is not unprecedented. They have previously entered Kosovo territory, and in some cases even kidnapped members of local communities.”
According to open-source reports, the location of the incident is known, including detailed maps and the village where the citizen was injured and abducted.
Arifi emphasized that the responsibility for preventing such incursions lies squarely with KFOR, the NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo. He cited UN Security Council Resolution 1244, which mandates KFOR to maintain territorial sovereignty:
“KFOR must explain how elite units of the Serbian gendarmerie could enter Kosovo, severely wound a citizen with automatic rifles, and transport them to Serbia. This is a clear violation of Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
