The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, inspected the Kosovo–Serbia border today, in the area where Kosovo citizen Milan Vukasinović was kidnapped last week.

Sveçla confirmed that, based on evidence and intelligence gathered by Kosovo’s security institutions, it has been proven that Vukashinović was abducted by Serbian state structures for being a critic of the Serb List, a Belgrade-backed political entity in Kosovo. He emphasized that this act represents a clear violation of Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to official reports, Vukasinović is currently being treated in a hospital in Niš, Serbia, for injuries sustained during the abduction.

Serbia Acting as an Aggressor State

Minister Sveçla condemned Serbia’s actions, saying that the country is “proving itself more and more each day to be an aggressor and anti-democratic state.” He highlighted that Vukashinović has been denied legal protection, something Sveçla noted is “a standard respected even by the most authoritarian regimes.”

He further underlined that Kosovo’s institutions are continuing intensive investigations to uncover all the circumstances behind the kidnapping and to identify those responsible.

“The perpetrators will face justice as soon as investigative procedures are completed,” Sveçla declared.

Call for International Pressure

The minister also urged international partners to increase pressure on Serbia, demanding accountability for its destabilizing actions and preventing further escalations in the region.

Sveçla’s visit to the border underscores growing tensions between Pristina and Belgrade, following a series of incidents involving Serbian security forces and Kosovo citizens, which Pristina views as part of a wider campaign to undermine Kosovo’s sovereignty.
