Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to visit Athens tomorrow under strict security measures and with a highly confidential schedule, Greek media report.
The agenda focuses primarily on energy cooperation and the development of a vertical corridor for U.S. LNG transport. This marks Zelensky’s first visit to Greece since August 2023.
For security reasons, the exact times of the president’s meetings in Athens have not been disclosed, a standard protocol for Zelensky’s travels. During the visit, he is expected to meet sequentially with President Konstantinos Tasoulas, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and conclude with Parliament Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis.
While energy is the central topic, Zelensky will also raise defense issues, though Greece has indicated it cannot provide support in this area.
“We are finalizing an energy agreement with Greece to maximize Ukraine’s natural gas supply, both for this winter and in the long-term strategic plan. Partnerships with various European countries, from Norway to Greece, will ensure our energy security. I thank all our partners for their support,” Zelensky stated previously.
