151 Croatian Soldiers to Join KFOR Mission in Kosovo

Croatia’s Ministry of Defense announced today that more than 150 Croatian soldiers will join the NATO-led KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, reinforcing Croatia’s long-standing role in preserving stability in the region.

Croatia Expands Its Presence in KFOR

Croatian forces have participated in KFOR since 2009, contributing approximately 2,400 personnel, including 140 women. With the latest deployment, 151 members of the Croatian Armed Forces are being sent to Kosovo, where they were ceremonially seen off at the “3rd Guards Brigade Kuna” barracks in Gjakova.

Deployment Structure: Infantry, Aviation, Headquarters & Medical Teams

The 44th Croatian contingent will be deployed across three key locations in Kosovo. The contingent includes:

  • A motorized infantry company (the largest component)
  • An aviation element
  • Headquarters staff
  • Advisory and development teams supporting the Kosovo Security Force (KSF)
  • A medical team

This deployment underscores Croatia’s ongoing commitment to regional peace and NATO responsibilities.

Croatia Active in Global Missions

Currently, Croatian soldiers participate in 10 international missions and activities, totaling 297 personnel worldwide.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić praised the professionalism of Croatian troops, stating that Croatian Armed Forces members consistently earn high recognition for their performance in missions around the world.
