The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, stated that his party prefers cooperation with political parties that share similar programs—those with which PDK has alternated between government and opposition over the years.
Hamza made the comments during a press conference following today’s meeting of the party’s Presidency.
“It is more preferable for us, more aligned with our political programs, our political and conceptual beliefs, to cooperate with parties with which we have been in government and in opposition at different times. Red lines should not be set, because they have proven to be harmful for the country,” Hamza said.
He emphasized that the interest of the state must come before party interests, and issued a warning regarding the rhetoric used during election campaigns.
“I understand the interests of political parties, but we must all ensure that the state’s interest remains above political interests. When it comes to the interest of the state, that is the top priority. And the language used in campaigns must be handled carefully so it does not contribute to increased polarization in society,” Hamza added.
