Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her resignation on Friday via a lengthy social media statement, following a public clash with President Donald Trump. Her final day in office will be January 5, 2026.
In her statement, Greene emphasized that her political mission has always been to hold the Republican Party accountable to the American people and to promote the “America First” agenda. She highlighted her strong conservative voting record while noting that her tenure in Congress was marked by continuous personal attacks, death threats, slander, and lies, which she said most people “would never withstand.”
Greene accused Trump of spending tens of millions of dollars with malice against her and attempting to destroy her politically, calling the situation “absurd and completely unserious.” The conflict between Greene and Trump escalated in recent weeks, ultimately leading to her abrupt resignation.
