Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, announced that a portion of the Javelin missiles purchased from the United States is expected to arrive in Kosovo during the next year.

Speaking on the program KallxoPërnime, he stated that in addition to the Javelins, Kosovo is making several other purchases of military equipment from the U.S. and other countries:

“Besides the Javelin missiles, we are making multiple purchases of weapon systems from the U.S. and other countries. We are awaiting confirmation of the delivery schedule. We are working to have some arrive this year, while 2026 is expected to be the year when a significant quantity will be received.”

Maqedonci emphasized that the Javelin is one of the best anti-tank systems, but it is not the only system the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) possesses.

He had previously confirmed on January 11, 2024, that Kosovo had officially requested to purchase the Javelin anti-tank missile system from the United States.

The Javelin missiles, produced by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies, have been effectively used by Ukraine against Russian aggression. The system can be operated by a single soldier on their shoulder or mounted on military vehicles, and it can target both armored and unarmored objectives.
