Political parties in Kosovo have until November 30, 2025, to officially inform the Central Election Commission (CEC) if they intend to participate in the upcoming elections as part of a coalition. So far, there has been no significant movement in this direction that could surprise the Kosovar political scene.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told KosovaPress that, according to the law, every registered political party that plans to compete in elections through a coalition is required to notify the CEC about this decision.

“According to the Law on General Elections, registered political parties wishing to participate in the early elections within a coalition must notify the CEC, specifically the Office for Registration, Certification, and Financial Control of Political Subjects, of their intention to run in this manner. The deadline to submit this notification is November 30, 2025,” Elezi explained.

He emphasized that a political party joining a coalition must adhere to the coalition’s rules.

“A coalition must be formed by at least two political parties. A political party cannot withdraw from the coalition once it has been certified until the election results are officially certified by the CEC. Additionally, a party that is part of a coalition cannot participate as a member of another coalition or run independently in the same elections,” Elezi added.

November 30, 2025, is also the deadline for political parties to notify the CEC if they do not wish to be certified for participation in the elections.
