Goalkeeper Amir Shaipi is enjoying an impressive period in his career. Following a strong performance for Kosovo in the 2-0 victory against Slovenia on November 15, Shaipi was on the bench during the 1-1 draw with Switzerland on November 18, as Aro Muriq returned from suspension and took the starting spot.

Despite this, Shaipi continues to display excellent form for his club, Lugano, in the Swiss Super League. After a challenging period where he was temporarily replaced by loaned goalkeeper David von Ballmoos, Shaipi recovered his form following von Ballmoos’ injury and led Lugano to key victories.

On November 9, Shaipi delivered a standout performance against Basel, and on November 18, he played a crucial role in the 1-0 win over Thun, making nine vital saves. Swiss newspaper Blick described him as the “decisive factor” in the victory, highlighting his quick reactions and composure in critical moments.

“Shaipi remained calm and made excellent saves, giving confidence to the team,” wrote Blick. Lugano coach Mattia Croci-Torti also praised him for his outstanding response to the renewed competition for the starting position.

Shaipi, who initially struggled with the decision to sit on the bench, is now focused and grateful to his family and coach for their support. “Although there is still work to be done, I’m enjoying these moments,” he said.

Shaipi’s form is also crucial for Kosovo, as it creates healthy competition with Aro Muriq, strengthening the national team’s goalkeeping position.
