One of Ukraine’s most influential political figures and a close aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky has resigned, just hours after anti-corruption agencies raided his home.

According to A2 CNN, this marks a major crisis as Kyiv faces new pressure from the United States to accept a peace deal to end the war with Russia. Officially, the Chief of Staff to the President, Andriy Yermak, has often been regarded as the second most powerful person in Ukraine.

He led the Ukrainian delegation during the latest negotiations in Geneva with Washington. Yermak’s resignation, announced by Zelensky on Friday, complicates Kyiv’s position as it enters decisive peace negotiations with the United States.
