Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has publicly backed Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during a pre-election rally in Novi Sad, reaffirming Slovakia’s opposition to Kosovo’s independence.

Fico attended a rally on Friday organised under the electoral list “Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia United” at Freedom Square in Novi Sad, where he voiced political support for Vučić and praised what he described as Serbia’s defence of its sovereignty and right to make independent decisions.

Speaking in Serbian, the Slovak prime minister assured the audience that his country would maintain its position on Kosovo.

“When it comes to Kosovo, we will never disappoint you. You will always have a sincere friend in me,” Fico said.

Slovakia is among the European Union member states that do not recognise Kosovo’s independence, a position that continues to affect Prishtina’s efforts to advance its European integration.

Fico’s appearance at the rally underscores his government’s political alignment with Vučić on Kosovo and its support for Serbia’s stated commitment to sovereignty and independent decision-making.
