During his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump has consistently highlighted his role in preventing global conflicts and wars.
He stated that he had stopped a total of eight wars during the first months of his leadership. Among these conflicts, Trump claimed to have prevented one between Serbia and Kosovo.
His first public statement on this matter was made on June 27 and quickly became a widely discussed topic, as there had previously been no information suggesting that Serbia was attempting to initiate an armed conflict in Kosovo during the period he referenced.
This claim was supported by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
During a lecture in Washington in July, Osmani stated that she had “reliable information” that U.S. President Donald Trump had recently prevented a possible escalation of tensions from Serbia toward Kosovo.
“He (Trump) is very clear in his statement that he is talking about the last few weeks,” Osmani said, emphasizing that this was not related to developments in 2020 or 2023, but rather “very, very recent events.”
Osmani’s statement, cited in an opinion piece by Marc A. Thiessen published in The Washington Post, was shared by Trump himself on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“Moreover, Trump asserts that he prevented a war between Serbia and Kosovo (with the President of Kosovo supporting Trump’s claim, stating that Serbia was planning to attack Kosovo in May before Trump intervened),” wrote the Washington Post.
