UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated on Wednesday that an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine must fully comply with international law. He emphasized that a resolution to the conflict remains distant.

“I believe we are still far from a solution,” Guterres said during the Reuters NEXT conference in New York.

Guterres also highlighted the role of the United States in removing obstacles to the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip. He warned that there are strong indications of war crimes committed in the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants.

Regarding recent U.S. strikes on vessels near Venezuela, Guterres noted that these actions were not in line with international law.

The Secretary-General’s statements underline the continued fragility of international peace and security, as well as the need for strict adherence to legal norms in conflict zones.
