Renowned American professor Edward Joseph highlighted on social media platform X that the Balkan region remains highly dynamic, even during the holiday season.
Joseph emphasized that political developments, particularly the Kosovo elections and diplomatic turbulence in Serbia, continue to be critical issues shaping the region.
He referred to the early parliamentary elections in Kosovo on December 28, describing them as a key moment for the country’s political future. He also discussed the tense situation in Serbia, where ongoing protests and international sanctions—including those imposed by the Trump administration on Serbia’s oil industry—have created an atmosphere of uncertainty and instability.
“Even during the festive period, the Balkans remain a region of rapid developments. The important December 28 elections in Kosovo will have a significant impact on the country’s stability. Meanwhile, the situation in Serbia continues to deteriorate, directly affecting Belgrade’s diplomacy and foreign policy,” Joseph wrote.
Joseph stressed that political tensions and uncertainty persist throughout the region, warning that these developments could have major implications not only politically, but also for international relations and ongoing diplomatic processes in the Balkans.
