International media outlets have widely reported the results of Kosovo’s early parliamentary elections held on December 28, highlighting the decisive victory of the ruling Vetëvendosje (LVV) party led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

The Guardian noted that Kurti achieved a convincing win, ending the political deadlock in Kosovo. The outlet emphasized that the victory strengthens Kurti’s mandate to advance domestic reforms, including expanding social welfare programs and increasing public sector wages. “Almost all votes counted, LVV has received over 49% of the votes, meaning only a few small coalition partners are needed to form a parliamentary majority,” the report stated.

Deutsche Welle reported that Vetëvendosje won nearly 50% of the votes, following a months-long stalemate since the February elections.

Al Jazeera highlighted that Kurti secured half of the votes, paving the way to form a new government after the months-long deadlock.

Politico noted that Kurti aims to form a new government quickly, with preliminary results showing that his party is on track for a clear parliamentary win. The outlet added that LVV’s 49% result is seen as crucial to ending a year-long political crisis and reviving Kosovo’s stalled EU integration hopes.

BBC reported that the Albanian nationalist party Vetëvendosje achieved a decisive victory, securing 50.8% of the votes with 90% of ballots counted, giving Kurti a third term in office. The two main opposition parties, Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), received 20.98% and 13.89%, respectively. BBC also highlighted that while LVV had won in February, it failed to secure a parliamentary majority, leaving Kosovo without a functional government.

Euronews reported that LVV’s victory comes after a 10-month political deadlock, positioning Kurti for another term in government. According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission, LVV won about 50% of votes, ahead of the center-right PDK (21%) and LDK (~14%), consolidating its position as Kosovo’s dominant political force.
