The international sports community has been deeply shaken by the passing of Davide Tizzano, President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG).
The news was confirmed by the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) through an official telegram of condolence, describing Tizzano as a valued friend of Kosovo and a visionary leader.
“It is with profound sorrow that we received the news of the passing of Davide Tizzano,” said KOC President Ismet Krasniqi in his message.
Krasniqi emphasized that Tizzano was a steadfast supporter of sport and Olympic values, highlighting that his contribution to Kosovo—particularly in the process of securing the organization of the Mediterranean Games—will remain unforgettable.
According to Krasniqi, “his human and sporting legacy will live on for a long time and will serve as an inspiration for future generations.”
An Extraordinary Sporting Legacy
Beyond his leadership role, Davide Tizzano was an exceptional athlete, having been a two-time Olympic champion in rowing, a 17-time Italian national champion in rowing, and a distinguished competitor in sailing.
On behalf of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi extended his deepest condolences to the Tizzano family, his collaborators, and the entire Mediterranean Games family.
