A U.S. Embassy official has visited the Dečani Monastery.

The Embassy’s Political and Economic Counselor, Amy Reichert, visited the monastery, where she was received by a member of the clergy. During the visit, she listened to the concerns of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo and reaffirmed U.S. support for religious freedom and coexistence among communities in Kosovo.

“Always a pleasure to visit Dečani Monastery — a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our Political-Economic Counselor Amy Reichert visited and met with Father Sava to learn more about the history of this extraordinary cultural heritage site and to hear the concerns of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo. She reaffirmed the strong support of the United States for religious freedom and peaceful coexistence for all communities in Kosovo,” the Embassy said in a statement.
