The Basic Court in Prizren has accepted requests submitted by the Prosecution for the imposition of pretrial detention measures against five individuals suspected of criminal offenses related to the electoral process.
According to the official court statement, four of the suspects served as election commissioners and are accused of the criminal offense of “Falsification of Voting Results.” The allegations relate to serious irregularities that directly undermine the integrity of the voting process.
Meanwhile, the fifth suspect, acting in the capacity of Chairperson of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC/KKZ) in Prizren, is suspected of “Abuse of Official Position or Authority,” pursuant to Article 414, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo.
The court announced that three hearings were held and concluded between 14:00 and 16:00, while a fourth hearing is expected to take place later today.
“Within the legally prescribed deadlines, the Court will draft decisions in relation to the requests of the Basic Prosecution of Prizren and will inform the media of the decisions issued by the pretrial judge,” the statement said.
The case marks one of the most serious investigations into alleged electoral manipulation in Prizren, raising concerns over the credibility of the election administration and the need for accountability within electoral institutions.
