The U.S. Department of State has published a video on the social media platform X, featuring President Donald Trump commenting on the current state of the Russia–Ukraine war.
In his remarks, President Trump stated that a resolution to the conflict is within reach, but emphasized that deep personal animosity between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to complicate peace efforts.
Trump once again referenced his experience in resolving international conflicts, highlighting his role in ending multiple wars during his political career.
“I’ve ended eight wars. I thought all of them would probably be harder than this one… but I think we’re getting very close to reaching a solution. However, Zelensky and Putin hate each other, and that makes it more difficult,” Trump said.
The statement underscores the ongoing diplomatic challenges facing international mediators, despite what Trump described as significant progress toward a negotiated settlement.
