Snapchat has suspended more than 400,000 accounts belonging to users under 16 in Australia, just two months after the country implemented a legal ban on underage accounts.
The company acknowledged that its current age verification systems have limitations and potential errors, and proposed that verification should be handled by app stores prior to download.
Australia’s legislation is now serving as a model for other countries, including India and France.
