Albania’s Foreign Minister, Elisa Spiropali, stated that together with Professor Edward Joseph, she held a discussion with students, researchers, and friends of Albania about the country’s path in a turbulent world.
“At this center of academic excellence in international policy, our message was clear: Albania’s strategic compass is unequivocally oriented toward the Euro-Atlantic community. Our partnership with the United States remains the foundation of our security and democratic progress, while the path toward the European Union is the national project that unites our institutions and citizens,” she said.
Spiropali also emphasized that Albania aims to join the EU by 2030 and warned that the entire region must not be left in a strategic vacuum.
“In just over a year, Albania has opened all negotiation chapters with the EU, thanks to difficult reforms and strong political will. Our goal is clear: to complete the process and take our place in the EU by 2030. In an era of global uncertainties, the Western Balkans must not be left in a strategic vacuum. EU enlargement is not just a political promise — it is a security necessity for Europe and the transatlantic community,” she added.
