Former KLA commander acquitted of war crimes charges

The former general commander of the KLA, Sylejman Selimi, and the former member of the KLA, Jahir Demaku, have been acquitted of charges of war crimes against the civilian population.

The verdict against Selim and Demak was announced today by judge Ngadnjim Arrini, Kosovo media reports.

According to judge Arrini, the accused were acquitted since it was not proven that they committed the criminal offense for which they were charged by the PSRK.

Selimi and Demaku were accused of mistreating a person in Likoc i Skenderaj.

On May 24, 2013, General Sylejman Selimi was arrested and later found guilty of a criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population by the Basic Court in Mitrovica. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
