Vetëvendosje MP Artan Abrashi has described the Democratic Party of Kosovo’s (PDK) conditions regarding the vote on the Law on the Specialist Chambers and the issue of electing the president as incomprehensible.

Abrashi said that LVV had never linked the presidential issue to the vote on the law.

“We have never linked the presidential issue to the vote on the law,” Abrashi declared.

According to him, the presidential issue was referred to the Constitutional Court by the PDK, and the deadline for electing the president resulted from that process.

“The PDK itself referred the presidential issue to the Constitutional Court, and the date came as it came,” he said.

Abrashi said the Law on the Specialist Chambers had never been at risk, citing today’s vote as evidence, when the draft law received 90 votes.

“The law was never at risk. We saw today that the law received 90 votes, while the president does not have 80 votes,” Abrashi said.

The LVV lawmaker accused the PDK of manipulating citizens’ emotions over the issue.

“Defending the former KLA leaders on appeal requires institutional engagement,” Abrashi said.
