Police on Protest: No Serious Injuries Reported So Far

The Kosovo Police has issued a statement regarding the situation that developed during the protest near the premises of the Government and the Assembly of Kosovo.

According to the Police, during the protest, a group of people repeatedly threw various objects, pyrotechnic devices and fireworks toward state buildings.

In its statement, the Kosovo Police said protesters also prevented MPs from leaving the Assembly. According to the Police, some lawmakers were forced to return inside the building.

“Police officers were forced to take the necessary and indispensable measures,” the Kosovo Police said in its statement.

The Police said that the throwing of objects and pyrotechnic devices, as well as the setting of garbage containers and fires on the streets, caused material damage.

However, according to the Kosovo Police, no serious injuries have been reported so far.

The Police called on protesters to refrain from damaging public property and to respect the law during the protest.

“The Kosovo Police reiterates that it recognizes citizens’ right to protest and express their grievances in a peaceful and democratic manner, and continues to appeal to all participants to protest peacefully, refrain from damaging public property, and respect the law,” the statement said.

The Kosovo Police said its officers will continue to remain present on the ground to maintain public order and public safety, emphasizing that the safety of citizens and state institutions remains a priority.
