Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza, one day after the first-instance verdict issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
The meeting focused on the verdict against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as possible steps to be taken following the judgment.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Kurti and Hamza described the verdict as unjust and serious and discussed its potential consequences.
“Assessing the verdict as unjust, serious and having wide-ranging consequences, Prime Minister Kurti stressed that it should be positively changed at the appellate level,” the statement said.
During the meeting, Kurti and Hamza exchanged views and impressions regarding the decision and discussed what they consider to be the appropriate avenues and measures for seeking changes to the judgment delivered yesterday.
The meeting comes amid increased institutional and public reactions in Kosovo following the first-instance verdict in The Hague.
