PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza said Friday that no agreement had been reached following his two-hour meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, while leaving open the possibility of further talks in the coming days.
“When we have an agreement, I will say so. It is possible that we will have meetings in the coming days as well,” Hamza said, according to KP.
Hamza said the meeting with Kurti focused on the ongoing proceedings in The Hague, the recent verdict by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, and the need to approve amendments to the law governing the Specialist Chambers.
“The meeting concerned the process taking place in The Hague, the court’s verdict, the need for the court’s law to be approved by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, and the issue of electing the president,” Hamza said.
He reiterated PDK’s position that legislation concerning the Specialist Chambers should be addressed before discussions on the presidential election.
“For the PDK, you know that approval of the law is necessary, and then we are open to discussing the president and giving the country a president,” Hamza said.
Hamza’s comments came amid ongoing political discussions over the election of Kosovo’s next president and efforts by political parties to reach an agreement that would prevent another parliamentary election.
